Definition: Chronic fatigue syndrome is an illness of unknown cause that's characterized by persistent and debilitating fatigue, flu-like symptoms, joint and muscle pain, and cognitive dysfunction.
Also Known As: chronic fatigue and immune dysfunction syndrome (CFIDS), ME/CFS (ME stands for either myalgic encephalomyelitis or myalgic encephalopathy)
